DIY The Start..............

After living in our house for over a year the time has come! The dreaded DIY projects. As much as I know the man of the house loves me when the talk of colors and crazy design ideas start a slight eye roll happens and I am given the patience needed. So here we go.......

Project: "70s porch be gone"

In the beginning......

Yes that is brown paneling and brown stained window sills!

The only obstacle is finding a design that will include red's(the cat) and my favorite ORANGE furniture.

Then
and Now

I found the mural at www.muralsuperstor.com It was easy to set up and hang defnatly a cool way to fill a small wall! And YES it tied in my orange furnature!

It is amazing what a little blue paint, zip strip and sanding can do!
Now a great place to watch storms come in.

Valentines Day... (caution over load on sappy)

We had a wonderful morning with a great mid day nap and dreams of summer. We finally rose out of the bed made it down the stairs to the couch where we spent the rest of the afternoon watching the Olympics.

After the exchange of the best gifts ever, we spent an hour watching the state road conditions to see if we should make the attempt to make it all the way to the restaurant in the next town. This trip usually takes 13minutes (barring tractor backups). With the pending snow drifts we left 30 minutes early and made it 5minutes late. YEAY FOR IOWA WEATHER!ugg

We finished our meal put on 15 layers of clothes and then made the 3o minute drive home. When we made it home we finished the evening with more Olympics.
It was a great day!

(LOVE YOU! Thank you for being the best valentine ever !)

winter in Iowa

Living In Iowa for a few years I have realized you can not escape, hide from or make snow disapear. So in the times of cleated shoes five layers of coats and non stop shivers here is a "glass half full" look at an Iowa winter.

One little snowflake with nothing to do.
Along came another and
Then there were two.

Two little snowflakes laughing with me.
Along came another, and
Then there were three.

Three little snowflakes looking for some more.
Along came another, and
Then there were four.

Four little snowflakes dancing a jive.
Along came another, and
Then there were five.

Five little snowflakes having so much fun.
Out came the sun, and
Then there were none!

Smile

Some things that make me smile......

One of the secrets of a happy life is continuous small treats.

People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they're not on your road doesn't mean they've gotten lost.

All love is sweet, given or returned.

Smiles are contagious.........

A Dream is a wish your heart makes.......
